Katharine Sarikakis PhD is Senior Lecturer in Communications Policy and Director of the Centre for International Communications Research (CICR) at the Institute of Communications Studies, University of Leeds.
Her research interests are in the field of international communications and the role of institutions in supra-and international communications policy processes. She is the author of Powers in Media Policy (Peter Lang 2004) the co-author (with P. Chakravartty) of Media Policy and Globalization (Edinburgh University Press 2006), the co-editor (with D. Thussu) of Ideologies of the Internet (Hampton Press 2006) and the managing editor of the International Journal of Media and Cultural Politics. She is an Honorary Research Scholar at Hainan University, China.
She has served as Vice-President elect of the International Association of Mass Communications Researchers (2000-2004) and a Secretary General for the European Consortium for Communication Research, now ECREA (2000-2002). She is currently the section head of the ECREA Communication Law and Policy.
