Green Paper on Public Access to Documents held by institutions of the European Community, COM(2007) 185 final

Wednesday 25 April 2007, by European Commission

imprimer

On the 18th of April 2007 the Commission has launched a consultation on the review of Regulation (EC) No 1049/2001 regarding public access to European Parliament, Council and Commission documents. The Green Paper, which act as the starting point for this consultation, takes stock of the implementation of the Regulation and outlines some options for improving the legislation and practical measures aimed at offering the public better and easier access to the documents held by the institutions and agencies.

It invites individuals, civic organisations and public authorities to reply to a questionnaire outlining different options. In September 2007 the Commission will publish a report summarising the outcome of the consultation and outlining follow-up action. By October 2007 this should allow the Commission to submit proposals for amending Regulation (EC) No 1049/2001.
