On 5 July 2007 the Temporary Committee of Inquiry of the Bundestag (German Parliament) appointed as special investigator former federal data protection supervisor Joachim Jacob. The task of Mr. Jacob will be to support and facilitate the Committee’s mandate.
The special investigator will work independently starting in autumn 2007 for an initial period of three months. His main objective will be to assist the Committee in finding out whether the German government or German authorities had been aware of - or involved in - activities connected to the so called CIA flights.
