The world report on violence and health of the WHO contents a specifical chapter about youth violence, which shows how much the phenomena is influenced by social insecurity, for instance poverty.

However, the approach of the authors is linked to the medical aspect, either by considering the injuries or event the death rates of victims, either by considering violent behavior in a clinical, psychological way (behaviourism).

Nevetheless, sociologicla aspects are very present. For instance, the report quotes a study based upon inquiries in 66 countries which finds that the youth violence increased much more between young men than among young women, since the eighties. The official report conclusion underlines the important impact of the social norms and environnements concerning youth violence.
