On 10 and 11 March 2008, government’s experts from the European Union and from the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) met in Brussels to discuss migration issues. The third experts meeting was an opportune occasion to exchange views and information on developments since the 2nd EU§LAC Experts meeting on Migration held in Cartagena de Indias and allowed for a fruitful debate and identification of concrete areas for continued dialogue and cooperation between both regions.

The four panels within which the discussions were held were:

Treatment, rights and integration of migrants, Remittances, Irregular migration and the fight against smuggling of and trafficking in human beings and new approaches to migration policies.
