Fraunhofer Symposium Future Security

3rd Security Research Conference, 10-11, September 2008.

These annual conferences were initiated by defence research institutes. They hope that the internal security programme launched by the federal government in 2006 will make good for the shrinking defence research contracts. They have formed a joint platform (Fraunhofer Verbund Verteidigungs- und Sicherheitsforschung). These conferences serve as an international platform for leading research institutes and manufacturers to present future technologies and construct the appropriate «dangers». It is a world deliberately held apart from academic research and assessment from the perspectives of economics and social science.
