Current position: research co-ordinator of European Association for Research on Transformation e.V. and independent researcher/consultant (social sciences, economics), regular lectures at the General Staff College of the German armed forces.

Nationality: German

Status: married, two daughters

Age: 63

Academic degrees: Diploma (sociology and economics) Free University in Berlin (1969), doctoral degree (political science, intern. relations) at the Free University of Berlin (1979).

Current research fields: „privatisation of security« as a global trend, (economic) causes of armed conflicts, transformation of violence in the context of globalisation and shadow globalisation towards «pacification» beyond the state by criminalisation.

Regular research networking: Links include colleagues in Russia, Mexico, Colombia, South Africa, Jordan, France, Belgium, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom among others.

Field research: Extensive field research was repeatedly carried out in Ecuador, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Russia among others.

Professional positions: Programming officer and country representative for the German Voluntary Service in Ecuador, researcher at the research centre of the German Association of Scientists (affiliated to Pugwash), research and teaching positions (assistant professor and guest lecturer) at the universities of Hamburg, Hannover, Bremen, Berlin, Kassel. Research co-ordination the Centre for War, Armaments and Development at the university of Hamburg and the Berghof institute for Peace and Conflict Research in Berlin, Editor-in-chief of MILITÄRPOLITIK DOKUMENTATION (1977-1992),
