IV. PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES

  Academic (see under III).

 1975-1979: Member of the "Central Team of Negotiations" set up by Law to conduct the accession of Greece in the European Communities.

 1979-1982: Counsel of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the implementation of Greek Law to EEC Law (organisation and substance).

 (1982-1988): Director of the Commission of the European Communities (General Directorate V for Social Affairs). More particularly, heading Directorate B, which dealt with free movement of persons and migration, social security, poverty, living and working conditions in the Community.

Greek (mother-tongue); excellent knowledge of English, French and Russian; good knowledge of German and Italian.
