IV. PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES

-  Academic (see under III).

- 1975-1979: Member of the "Central Team of Negotiations" set up by Law to conduct the accession of Greece in the European Communities.

- 1979-1982: Counsel of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the implementation of Greek Law to EEC Law (organisation and substance).

- (1982-1988): Director of the Commission of the European Communities (General Directorate V for Social Affairs). More particularly, heading Directorate B, which dealt with free movement of persons and migration, social security, poverty, living and working conditions in the Community.

V. LANGUAGES

Greek (mother-tongue); excellent knowledge of English, French and Russian; good knowledge of German and Italian.
