Funda Tekin finished her studies of economics with special reference to political science at the University of Cologne in summer 2004 writing her diploma thesis on the politico-administrative change and the Europeanisation of Turkey.

She spent some time in London, Paris (Institut d’études Politiques) and Turkey for educational and research purposes.

Funda Tekin had worked as student assistant at the Jean Monnet Chair of Prof. W. Wessels at University of Cologne for two years before she became a research assistant in September 2004. Apart from the EU-Turkey relations the focus of her research is the implications of the Constitutional Treaty and the EU in the international system.

She is involved in the following research projects and research networks: European Political Science Network (epsNet); Foreign Policy Governance in Europe Research Network (FORNET); The Changing Landscape of Liberty and Security in Europe (CHALLENGE). Furthermore she has developed virtual study units for epsNet and is the coordinator of the European Online Academy at the University of Cologne.
