The essay examines the german workfare legislation (Hartz) within the frame of the EU flexicurity program. The article underlines critically the negative effects on precarious publics and groups, such as single women, unskilled unemployed, etc. and discusses the wider, political sociology of the reform program. Yhe author suggests to define new legal standards concerning precarious labour conditions.
