• Die Europäische Kommission will Asyl-Zusammenarbeit stärken

  Die Kommission beschreibt in ihrer Mitteilung zur praktischen Zusammenarbeit im Asylbereich, die sie heute angenommen hat, wie sich eine weitergehende asylpolitische Kooperation darstellen könnte, deren Ziel ein vollständig harmonisiertes Asylsystem ist. Die Mitteilung enthält ein Arbeitsprogramm für die operative Zusammenarbeit der Mitgliedstaaten. Die Kommission hofft, dass es dazu beiträgt, die Asylsysteme der Mitgliedstaaten zu verbessern und effizienter zu gestalten.

• Publication of the General Report on the Activities of the EU in 2005: profiling the events of the past year

  As it does at this time every year in accordance with its obligations under the Treaties, the European Commission has now published the General Report on the Activities of the European Union in 2005. Some 200 pages long and available in the twenty official EU languages, the Report highlights the main legislative activities and the key achievements which marked the last twelve months.

• Common European asylum system

  In the Hague Programme of November 2004 the European Council called for the establishment of appropriate structures involving the national asylum services of Member States with a view to facilitating practical cooperation towards three main objectives

• La Commission désigne le nouveau directeur général de l’Office européen de lutte antifraude (OLAF)

  M. Franz-Hermann Brüner a été nommé aujourd’hui directeur général de l’Office européen de lutte anti-fraude. M. Brüner sera responsable en toute indépendance des activités d’investigation menées par l’Office. Sous l’autorité du membre de la Commission chargé de la protection des intérêts financiers de l’Union européenne, il organisera la contribution de l’Office à l’élaboration de la stratégie antifraude de la Commission ainsi que son assistance aux États membres avec la mise en place d’une coopération étroite et régulière entre les autorités nationales compétentes afin de coordonner les activités visant à protéger les intérêts financiers de l’Union européenne contre la fraude.

  Stabilité et poursuite du renforcement de son efficacité en toute indépendance, tels sont les points inscrits en tête de l’ordre du jour de l’Office européen de lutte antifraude (OLAF) après la décision officielle prise hier par la Commission européenne de reconduire à son poste le directeur général de l’Office.

• Publication du rapport général sur les activités de l’UE en 2005 : un instrument précieux pour dresser le portrait de l’année écoulée

  Fidèle au rendez-vous annuel que lui fixent les Traités, la Commission européenne vient de publier le rapport général sur l’activité de l’Union européenne en 2005. Fort de quelque 200 pages, disponible dans les vingt langues officielles de l’UE, ce document revient sur les principales activités législatives et les réalisations clés qui ont jalonné l’activité de l’Union au cours de l’année 2005.

• The Commission appoints new Director-General of the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF)

  Mr Franz-Hermann Brüner was appointed today Director-General of the European Anti-Fraud Office. Mr Brüner will be responsible, in full independence, for the investigative activity of the Office. Under the supervision of the Commissioner responsible for the protection of the European Union’s financial interests, he will manage the Office’s contribution to the design of the Commission’s anti-fraud strategy as well as providing assistance to the Member States by organising close and regular cooperation between their competent authorities in order to coordinate activities aimed at protecting the European Union’s financial interests against fraud.

• Gestion des problèmes liés à l’asile: la Commission entend renforcer la coopération pratique entre les États membres

  Dans sa communication sur le renforcement de la coopération pratique adoptée aujourd’hui, la Commission présente sa vision d’une coopération future des États membres en matière d’asile, dans la perspective de la mise en place d’un régime européen complètement harmonisé. La communication définit un programme de travail relatif à une coopération opérationnelle entre les États membres qui devrait permettre aux régimes d’asile nationaux de gagner en efficacité et en qualité.

• A Commission’s report finds that free movement of workers had a positive impact since enlargement

  On 8th February 2006, the European Commission published a report on the «Functioning of the Transitional Arrangements set out in the 2003 Accession Treaty (period 1 May 2004-30 April 2006)». The Commission’s report presents data on labour movement from new to old EU Member States since enlargement. It aims at informing Member States in order to help them deciding on whether to continue with national restrictions on workers’ movement. According to the Accession Treaty, Member States have until 30 April 2006 to decide whether to lift such restrictions, which is the end of the first phase of the transitional arrangements.

• New European Commission’s communication on thematic programmes for the cooperation with third countries in the areas of migration and asylum

  On 25th January, the European Commission approved 7 new thematic programmes in the framework of the reform of its External Actions. Under the financial Perspective 2007-2013, these thematic programmes will be a fundamental part of Community external action together with the geographical programmes. The 7 new thematic programmes will regroup the 15 current programmes and aim at simplifying and making more efficient the delivery of foreign assistance.
