• The EU and Human Rights: Making the impact on people count

  To complement Amnesty International’s programme for the rotating EU presidencies, the following document is intended to address our broader human rights concerns to the full range of EU policy makers and actors. It is additionally directed at relevant EU decision makers that do not necessarily have a background in human rights, but whose work nonetheless can potentially create a real impact.

Or, en France, les plaintes pour ce type de violations des droits humains ne sont pas souvent suivies d’enquêtes effectives, et les responsables de ces actes sont rarement traduits en justice, affirme Amnesty International dans un nouveau rapport, qui paraît ce jeudi 2 avril 2009.

• L’Europe refuse de reconnaître son rôle dans les « restitutions » et les détentions secrètes opérées par les États-Unis

  Amnesty International a dénoncé ce mardi 24 juin le fait qu’aucune mesure n’ait été prise pour empêcher que des pays d’Europe ne soient de nouveau impliqués dans des transferts exceptionnels de détenus – les« restitutions » – et des détentions secrètes, et elle a insisté sur la nécessité d’ouvrir de toute urgence des enquêtes indépendantes.

  En ce 5 juillet 2007, alors que les Lords juges s’apprêtent à examiner une affaire d’application du régime des ordonnances de contrôle, mis en place dans le cadre de la lutte contre le terrorisme, Amnesty International lance un appel aux autorités britanniques pour qu’elles s’engagent à poursuivre en justice plutôt qu’à persécuter les personnes soupçonnées d’être impliquées dans des actes terroristes.

  On 5 July 2007, as the Law Lords begin hearing a case concerning the UK «counter-terrorism» control order regime, Amnesty International calls on the UK authorities to commit themselves to prosecuting rather than persecuting anybody suspected of involvement in terrorism.
