• Final Statement of the migration and development Paris conference

  Today, 25 November, in Paris, France is hosting the second Euro-African Ministerial Conference on migration and development, during which the African and European partners will take note of the reinforcement of the dialogue in the context of the Rabat process and the existence of a Euro-African consensus on a global approach to migration. They are also expected to commit themselves further to developing a genuinely operational relationship by adopting a multi-annual cooperation programme to ensure balanced and concerted management of migration in West Africa.

• Seventh European Round Table on poverty and social exclusion

  16% of the European population lives below the poverty risk threshold. In this context, the seventh European Round Table on poverty and social exclusion aims to bring together all the actors in the field to develop specific proposals to combat poverty and exclusion.

• Pacte européen sur l’immigration et l’asile

  Depuis un demi-siècle, le projet politique et de civilisation qui porte la création et l’approfondissement de l’Union européenne a permis des progrès considérables. L’un des fruits les plus remarquables de cette entreprise est la constitution d’un vaste espace de libre circulation couvrant aujourd’hui la majeure partie du territoire européen. Ce développement a permis un accroissement sans précédent des libertés pour les citoyens européens comme pour les ressortissants des pays tiers circulant librement sur ce territoire commun. Il représente aussi un important facteur de croissance et de prospérité. L’élargissement récent et à venir de l’espace Schengen conforte encore la liberté de circulation des personnes.

  The European Civic Forum, with the help of the European Commission, is organizing the European Civic Days. The aim of the event is to promote active European citizenship. The event will take place from 4 to 6 September 2008

• Draft Programme of the trio of Presidencies in JHA

  The French, Czech and Swedish Presidencies will coincide with a period of significant changes for the European Union. The end of 2008 and the beginning of 2009 will be the last period of full-scale activity for the European Parliament and the Commission. The elections to the European Parliament in June 2009 and the appointment of a new Commission during the second half of 2009 will have a profound effect on the work of the three Presidencies.

• Proposal for a European Pact on Immigration and asylum

  The European Council considers that the time has come to provide a new impetus, in a spirit of mutual responsibility and solidarity between Member States and also of partnership with third countries, to the definition of a common immigration and asylum policy that will take account of both the collective interest of the European Union and the specific needs of each Member State.

• À Luxembourg, le Conseil « JAI » a adopté des mesures pour améliorer l’efficacité de la lutte contre le terrorisme

  Lors de la réunion du Conseil de l’UE « justice et affaires intérieures », présidée aujourd’hui à Luxembourg par M. Lovro Šturm, les ministres de la justice sont parvenus à un accord sur le texte de la proposition de modification de la décision-cadre de 2002 sur la lutte contre le terrorisme. La proposition introduit de nouvelles infractions, notamment l’incitation publique à commettre des infractions terroristes, le recrutement et l’entraînement pour le terrorisme. La proposition renforcera l’efficacité de la lutte contre le terrorisme mondial tout en garantissant la liberté, la sécurité et le droit.

• Les présidents du Conseil JAI de l’UE, Lovro Šturm et Dragutin Mate, participeront à la 8ième réunion du Conseil de partenariat permanent UE–Russie dans le domaine de l’espace commun de liberté, de sécurité et de justice

  M. Lovro Šturm, ministre slovène de la Justice, et M. Dragutin Mate, ministre slovène de l’Intérieur, participeront, dans le cadre de la troïka présidentielle, à la 8ième réunion du Conseil de partenariat permanent UE–Russie dans le domaine de l’espace commun de liberté, de sécurité et de justice, qui débutera, le 24 avril 2008 à Saint-Pétersbourg, par un dîner de travail et une discussion sur la lutte contre les stupéfiants. Le lendemain, la rencontre se poursuivra à une réunion officielle et se terminera par une conférence de presse.

• Schengen regime for greater security in air traffic as well

  After lifting the checks at the internal land and sea borders on 21 December 2007, when Slovenia and eight other Eastern and Central European countries entered the Schengen area, border checks were also lifted at air borders one minute after midnight yesterday, 30 March 2008. At today’s press conference at the Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport, the representatives of the Ministry of the Interior, the Police and Aerodrom Ljubljana underlined the historic significance of this event for Slovenia as well as other Schengen countries, particularly in providing security in the Schengen area.

• Le régime de Schengen assure davantage de sécurité également dans le trafic aérien

  Après la suppression du contrôle aux frontières terrestres et maritimes au sein de l’espace Schengen intervenue le 21 décembre 2007, date à laquelle la Slovénie et huit nouveaux Etats membres de l’UE avaient intégré cet espace, le contrôle sur les vols intérieurs a été finalement supprimé hier, le 30 mars 2008, à 24h01. Les représentants du ministère de l’Intérieur, de la Police nationale et de la société Aerodrom Ljubljana ont expliqué, aujourd’hui, lors d’une conférence de presse à l’Aéroport Jože Pučnik de Ljubljana, l’importance que revêt cet événement historique pour la Slovénie et les autres pays membres de l’espace Schengen, pour assurer, notamment, la sécurité au sein de cet espace.
