  Julian Reid is Lecturer in International Relations in the Department of War Studies at King’s College London. His interests are mainly in political, social, and philosophical approaches to war. He has recently completed a book, The Biopolitics of the War on Terror, forthcoming in 2006 with Manchester University Press. This book develops a specifically Foucauldian critique of the origins and development of the War on Terror, revealing its roots in the development of liberal regimes of disciplinary power and governmentality. He is now working on another text, co-authored with Professor Michael Dillon, titled The Liberal Way of War. This book examines the relations of changes in warfare to the development of the human and the natural sciences, with particular emphasis upon the implications of epistemological developments in science not only for the technological transformations underpinning the Revolution in Military Affairs (RMA), but for the broader strategies of power employed by global liberal regimes of governance to global societies and populations.
