The campaign aims to raise public awareness about EU law-making and stresses the need to make EU legislation more accessible and easier to understand for the general public as well as for all stakeholders, national parliamentary scrutiny committees and the media. It is argued that ‘correlation tables’, which for internal purposes help in interpreting EU requirements into national legal provisions, are both easy and simple to produce.
The report lists and comments upon the ALDE’s political achievements between 2004 and 2006. The first chapter deals with civil liberties, justice and home affairs. Reference is made to achievements relating to the protection of human/fundamental rights, data protection, the fight against terrorism and organised crime and asylum and immigration (Green card). Specific reference is also made to the CIA flights and secret prisons.
